They’ve tracked down an increasing number of ads on Jersey Insight selling unusual and expensive animals and don’t want Islanders to get caught out, handing over money for animals they are never likely to see.

They say you should keep an eye out for any suspect information in ads especially if the animals are really cheap or are not based in the Island.

Crime Reduction Officer DC Chris Ingham said:  “Always do thorough research before buying any animal online. Check out the company and contact information and arrange to view the animal before handing over any money. Always be wary of super-bargains – if the deal seems too good to be true, it probably is”

The Police say they have spoken to Jersey Insight and the recent ads have now been removed but If you’ve got any concerns about local online adverts involving animals or think you might have been scammed, the Police want you to give them a call on 612612.
