A dramatic recovery operation took place in St Ouen’s Bay this evening after a van came off a slipway and landed on its roof among the rocks – little more than an hour before high water.

The silver Volkswagen came off the slip near Sands and overturned onto the rocks below.

Fortunately, no one was injured.

With the tide rapidly rising, a team from No 1 Recovery raced to lift the van to safety.

Video footage shows just how close the operation came to being overtaken by the sea.

Photographer Dave Ferguson captured the moment the vehicle was hoisted into the air as water pooled around the rocks where the Volkswagen had fallen.

The Coastguard was in attendance throughout.

Express has contacted the emergency services for more information and is awaiting a response.
