Unexpected staff sickness was behind long security queues that led some Islanders to miss their flights today, it has been confirmed.
Passengers due to catch flights in the morning complained that they had needed as much as an hour to get through security.
Express contacted Ports of Jersey about the delays, but did not receive a response this morning.
In a video statement released in the afternoon, Airport managing director Dale Reeson apologised to those affected, “particularly those who missed their flights”.
He said: “Following unexpected staff illness, processing through security was temporarily slower than usual, resulting in longer queues and delays for some passengers.
“We understand how important travel plans are and recognise the frustration and inconvenience this caused. Our team worked closely with affected passengers to ensure they could get to their destinations as quickly as possible.”
He added that a “through review” was now under way to avoid repeating similar issues.
