The latter vehicle was severely damaged in the accident, with its windscreen smashed and body crumpled, leading the Fire Service to have to cut its roof to release its driver.
Pictures released by the Fire Service showed that the airbag had been triggered by the impact.

Despite the dramatic rescue, which involved hydraulic tools, Police told Express the woman isn’t believed to have sustained any life-threatening or life-changing injures. She did, however, need to go to A&E.
The road was closed to northbound traffic at 08:35.
