Every November hundreds of thirteen and fourteen-year olds and their parents pack out the hall at Hautlieu to hear about what life it like at the school and they get the chance to check out the first-class facilities. Determined not to cancel, Head Teacher Nick Falle, decided on taking a different approach and hold their 14+ open evening online instead.

The 20-minute show is presented by the Head Student Team and it is packed with video footage of the school facilities.

Noah, a current student at Hautlieu said: It was great to be part of the online virtual event and to be on the student panel. It is a really good way for students who are thinking about coming to Hautlieu in year 10 and their parents to find out more. We know that it can feel nerve-wracking moving schools, but we are all in the same boat and I met friends really quickly and you meet such interesting people. I really enjoy it here – in fact coming to Hautlieu is one of the best decisions I have ever made.”

Nick Falle, Head Teacher said: “We believe that Hautlieu is an extraordinary school that nurtures extraordinary students.  Hautlians enjoy a focused learning environment that enables excellent examination results and offers first class preparation for university entrance and employment.”

He continued: “Whilst it is absolutely the case that we are very focused on supporting students to achieve the highest academic standards, there is much more to Hautlieu than our long tradition of academic success. We passionately believe that we have a responsibility to develop young people who recognise the value of helping and caring for others. In line with our school motto of Summa Petamus, aim for the highest, our students take advantage of countless opportunities to challenge themselves be they sporting, cultural or charitable. It is humbling and inspiring to be part of a community with so many talented, caring and thoughtful young people. We very much hope you watch our virtual open evening on YouTube to find out more.”

If you missed it LIVE on YouTube Premiere on November 3rd, you can still watch the show and catch up on Hautlieu’s YouTube Channel.

The deadline for 14+ applications is 9th December 2020.
