Adams needed surgery after rupturing an anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee while playing for Bradford City in September.

He had been on a season long loan with the Bantams.

Wigan confirmed that he has returned to the Brick Community Stadium.

“After making a number of appearances at Valley Parade, Adams sustained a knee injury which has ruled him out for the remainder of the season,” Wigan said in a statement on their website.

“The 20-year-old will undergo his rehabilitation with the club’s Medical and Sport Science Departments at Christopher Park, where he will have the full support of everyone at Wigan Athletic throughout his road to recovery.”

Adams grew up in Guernsey before making a move to Southampton as a 16-year-old to pursue a professional career.
