Grace Tucker will be running the London Landmarks Half Marathon on Sunday fundraising for Independent Age, a national charity that supports older people in financial hardship.
A regulatory consultant at PwC, she was inspired to run for the charity following her shock at the UK Government’s choice to cut the Winter Fuel Payment.
“It is crucial to support older people during these challenging times, especially amidst the ongoing cost of living crisis,” she said.
“The thought of seniors struggling to meet basic needs—such as heating their homes or eating decent food—deeply upsets me. I wanted to take action and contribute to a charity that provides vital support and advice to ensure that older people can live with dignity and independence.”
Grace is one of fourteen people running in this year’s London Landmarks Half Marathon for Independent Age. As a team they are hoping to raise a combined £4,200.
Battling through shin splints and cold coastal weather during her training, this will be Grace’s first half marathon.
“Though it’s been tough at times, I am truly grateful to be fundraising for such a deserving cause. Independent Age has a huge positive impact. If anyone feels they are able to donate it would be amazing, you’d be contributing to really important work.”
