Guernsey FC has received a multi-year funding commitment from four island residents to develop and strengthen all facets of the club.

Guy and Julia Hands and Maggie and Steve Lansdown have pledged support for the first team squad, coaching team, Women’s squad and the development team.

Player support and welfare, coaching, and travel support will be provided as part of the package.

But the club said this will stabilise operations and a more broad funding base is required to ensure it is sustainable.

Other philanthropists and businesses are being sought to sponsor and donate to the club – with existing sponsorships for first-team and visiting team travel unaffected by the new funding agreement.

Ms Hands, Chair of Hand Picked Hotels and the club, will continue to be the official sponsor of the team and as a key founding partner of the Victoria Park Stadium.

She said: “Guy and I are proud to support Guernsey FC at this important moment. Football has the power to bring people together and inspire future generations.

“This Club plays a unique role in our island community and we want to help safeguard that. But we cannot do it alone – we hope our commitment encourages others to step forward.”

Mr Lansdown said he is pleased to “stand alongside Guy and Julia in helping Guernsey FC plan with confidence.

“Sustained support from across the community will be key to unlocking the Club’s ambitions and ensuring football continues to thrive in Guernsey.”

Tony Vance, Manager of Guernsey FC added: “We are hugely grateful for this generous commitment. It gives us breathing space to focus on football and community programmes.

“To secure our long-term future we still need more partners and donors, and we welcome conversations with anyone who can help.”
