The event is growing too, with U14 and U16 girls competitions adding to the occasion for the first time and the numbers being sufficient to allow for development games from U10 to U14 levels to be added to the competitive fixtures.

Guernsey’s U16s and U15s boys put in big performances to win 41-10 and 27-0 respectively.

The Sarnians girls side were also in great form, the U16s won 21-5 and U14s by 15-5.

In the Colts (U18s) game, Guernsey held Jersey to a scoreless first half before the visitors power eventually told and they pulled away for a 26-0 win.

“The Junior Siam was a superb display of rugby for the island, and every age group contributed to an extremely strong showing against Jersey, with Guernsey taking at least half of the age group trophies,” said Guernsey Rugby Academy chair Rupert Pleasant.

“There were some very close matches, and also some incredibly notable wins – but win or lose, all the players showed impeccable sportsmanship and discipline and were superb ambassadors for the sport of rugby.”
