Challenge Roth is a long distance event that is legendary in triathlon circles and this year’s race only underscored its reputation with the record books being rewritten as Magnus Ditlev and Anne Haug produced the world’s fastest times for a 3.8km swim, 180km bike and a 42.2km run at 7:23.24 and 8:02.38 respectively.
Lewis produced another strong swim, where he was eighth out of the water, and bike, where he had the sixth fastest leg, before fading on his weaker run discipline but still coming home eighth in 7:52.32, just nine seconds ahead of the next triathlete.
The result comes a month after Lewis claimed his first podium of the year at Challenge Wales where he finished third.
