Raiders stormed to victory in their last home game of the season, in a closely fought and hotly matched contest, with the game finishing at 34 – 29 against Sevenoaks.
The win keeps the Raiders seventh in the league, and ahead of Henley who were also successful this weekend beating Barnes 19-21.
The victory allows Guernsey to keep eyes looking upwards in the table. They’re just four points behind 6th placed Westcombe Park, and five points off 5th placed Old Albanians although that side is now out of reach for the Raiders, with only 4 points left on offer this season.
The late push we’ve seen from the Sarnians this season might not have been enough to get up and into the promotion spaces, but the win will give Guernsey a boost going into their final game of the season, against bottom side Worthing. (Away, 26 April, 15:00.)

The Raiders Ladies faced off against the Seaford Scarlets in their final game of the sesason, one which had been delayed since Decemeber due to weather.
The 24 – 22 away loss saw the Sarnian side miss out on a chance to claim the league title. Dorking had gone in at the top, but within touching distance, and Seaford were just behind, meaning that following the loss all three sides were on 54 points, with the position of first, second and third decided by points scored.
Dorking ended up claiming the title, whilst Guernsey held on to second place.
The match was a good showing with the Raiders Ladies having pushed back from 12 – 0 down, and then again when at 24 – 10, to almost winning the match. It was just the second loss of the season for the Sarnians who showed great heart, effort and passion as they pushed the UK side to the final whistle.
The match also saw a moment of personal pride for team captain Kayleigh Oliver, who secured her 50th cap for the club.
Coach Steve Evans said “If we hadn’t played really, really well, I’d of been more disappointed. I think if Seaford had lost, they too would’ve felt hard done by, as it was a close, close game.”
“They played really well, and now our focus is on the Siam Cup.”
