Saturday’s game against Bury St Edmunds ended in a 32-25 loss for the Raiders, who will now be setting their sights on a redemption at home when they host Henley this coming weekend.

The Sarnians’ have had a run of form which would make even the most staunch optimists keep an eye on the teams below them in the league with just one win in their last 10 scheduled games.

The Raiders are now 9th, but with a 12 point buffer between them and Oxford Harlequins in 10th.

The Henley side due to visit Guernsey on Saturday have had a mixed bag of results in their recent run of games with a loss at Bury St Edmunds late last year too.

However they managed to pick up some tight wins, such as their away win against Dorking, (22 – 23), and their victory over Colchester, (34 – 19).

The previous encounter between Raiders and Henley could cast a shadow of doubt for local supporters, with Henley reaping the rewards in a 26 – 15 away loss for Guernsey.

A win at home would allow Raiders to keep pace with the teams above them in the league.

They could even keep alive their ongoing game of leapfrog with Bury St Edmunds, who now sit just two points ahead in the table.

The difference this coming weekend is that the Guernsey side won’t have to be looking over their shoulder as much, so could potentially play with a bit more freedom.

Kick off on Saturday is at Footes Lane at 3pm.
