Guernsey Raiders welcome bottom of the table Colchester to Footes Lane this weekend for a rearranged fixture.

With Guernsey currently in 8th position in National League 2 East, with two games in hand on most of the teams above them, compared to the Essex side’s 14th, the Raiders look to be in a dominant position.

Raiders have also won three of the pair’s last four head-to-head meetings, although both sides have endured losing streaks recently.

Raiders last game, away against Old Albanians, ended 28-21, with coach Jordan Reynolds concluding “we were just poor”.

“We had two opportunities in their 22 to score and for some reason just made the wrong option – we did a carry option, instead of a pass option,” he said.

“Obviously there’s a lot of frustration for us and these things that we weren’t doing last week… our option-taking was a lot better in previous weeks, so I don’t know why today it’s been off.

“We’ll assess that and see if we can move it forward.

“I’m a bit deflated at the moment. Hopefully we can get some reaction from the boys soon.”

Ahead of this weekend’s match, Colchester has confirmed they will be without several first team regulars due to injury and illness on what was planned to be a rest weekend for them.

The rescheduled match was due to be played in December but Storm Darragh put paid to that.

KO is 14:00 at Footes Lane.
