The first ever Count 14 Challenge aimed at promoting ongoing healthy habits takes place this weekend.
Organised by the Health Improvement Commission, the walking or running challenge comes on the back of Dry January and was moved from its original date due to the bad weather forecast and a clash with other events.
The Count 14 campaign encourages individuals to follow low-risk drinking guidelines, recommending no more than 14 units of alcohol per week, spread over at least three days. This helps reduce the risk of alcohol-related harm and promotes a balanced lifestyle.
The event, sponsored by Specsavers, will begin from the La Vallette Bathing Pools on Sunday at 09:00 and will see teams of one to 14 people collectively either run 14 laps from the pools to the Yacht Club, which is one lap, or take on the stair challenge up to the Cow’s Horn and back down.
Tea, coffee, and a breakfast snack will be available for everyone taking part and the Bathing Pools cafe will also open should spectators want to warm up and grab something to eat or drink.
