Skupski and Krawczyk won the first set 6-1, before their opponent’s rallied to take the second 7-5.
The tiebreaker ended 10-7.
On Friday in the doubles, Watson and Katie Boulter lost in three sets to Chan Hao-ching and Veronika Kudermetova (1-6, 6-3, 5-7).
She was knocked out of the singles in the qualifying rounds by Antonia Ruzic (3-6, 7-5, 1-6).
