ENGINES roared at Bouley Bay on Bank Holiday Monday, as a stacked entry list of 112 hungry competitors produced an all-time spectacle in the last hillclimb of 2026, breaking 11 records in the process.
British Supermoto Championship round six table-topper Matt Le Brun came out as the toast of the motorcycles on the day, racking up a pair of class records aboard his Husqvarna FS. The Jerseyman clocked a time of 43.66 seconds to take the motorcycles 251 to 350 class record, before then upping the ante to claim the motorcycles 351 to 500 record with a time of 42.64 seconds.
The latter of those times bears even more historical significance, as it proved enough to claim the outright bike record, meaning no one has completed the technical, twisty course quicker on two wheels in the history of the Bouley Bay hillclimb. Given that it all started over 100 years ago in 1920, that really is an awesome feat.
Meanwhile, Michael Salmon somehow bested his pair of top-five place finishes in the Bouley Bay round of the British Hillclimb Championship, clocking a time of 38.36 seconds to smash his previous racing cars 1601 to 2000 record.
Ollie Le Bailly more than lived up to the hype meanwhile in the rally cars 1601 to 2000 category, finally surpassing the record set by Jersey’s rally sensation Sam Touzel in his Ford Escort Mk2 to set a new record of 45.48 seconds.
Alex Salmon, Michael’s brother, only added to the party in the racing cars unlimited category, setting a new record of 40.59 seconds in his Gould GR37.
Paul Vibert then broke his own record in the rally cars up to 1400 group with 49.69 seconds, Stewart Barrow’s Lotus Elise S1 sped through to set a new record of 48.38 seconds in the road going series production 1401 to 2000 class and Chris Hanson smashed the sports libre saloon unlimited record with a blazing 47.08 seconds, leaving it to the very last run in his Ford Escort RSR.
Elsewhere, Ross Le Noa broke his own record from two years ago in the rally cars unlimited 8″ wheel class with a time of 44.91 seconds and Sarnian Jez Mann’s Lamberetta shaved off 0.13 seconds off the scooter 150 to 249 record, setting a new milestone of 58.46 seconds.
