A Jersey teenager scored his first Celtic goal in the Scottish League Cup semi-final against Rangers this weekend.

Callum Osmand came off the bench to score three minutes into the second-half of extra-time in front of a packed Hampden Park crowd.

His strike sealed victory in the 448th edition of the “Old Firm” derby and sends Celtic into the cup final next month.

The 19-year-old, who joined the Scottish club from Fulham in June, described the moment as “indescribable”.

“It’s one of those moments that just doesn’t happen – but it has,” he told Premier Sports.

“Those times when you’re not in the squad and you’re training on your own are painful, but they prepare you for moments like this.”

Since the arrival of interim manager Martin O’Neill, Osmand has been given his chance to impress after spending several months outside Celtic’s first-team squad under former boss Brendan Rodgers.

Osmand added: “It only takes one person to believe in you and push you on, and hopefully this is just the start for me.”

Celtic will face St Mirren in the Premier Sports Cup final back at Hampden Park on 14 December.
