Les Ormes has announced plans to significantly expand its padel tennis facilities after securing further funding through the Jersey Business Better Business Grant.
The self-catering resort will invest around £200,000 into expanding its existing padel offering, with £75,000 of the project funded through the grant scheme.
The development will see three additional double courts and a new single court built alongside the current facility, which already includes four panoramic double courts.
Since opening in May 2025, the Les Ormes padel centre has attracted around 1,000 players each week on average, with participation rising during school holidays through its junior and teen academy, coaching sessions, social play and tournaments.
The expansion forms part of a longer-term plan to develop a broader leisure hub at the resort aimed at both islanders and visiting holidaymakers.
The new courts will sit alongside the recently launched wellness studio above the existing padel courts, which offers classes including Pilates, sound bath sessions, yoga and tone-and-sculpt workouts.
The resort’s gym has also recently undergone a full refurbishment, with an enlarged space and new equipment. Membership options for islanders are expected to be announced soon.

Steve Dunford, Sports and Leisure Manager at Les Ormes, said the funding would help the resort become the island’s largest padel centre.
“This new grant will enable Les Ormes to become the largest padel centre in Jersey. Transforming the building into a dedicated padel and wellness hub has attracted an entirely new demographic to the site, which in turn boosts wider support for the Bosdet Foundation and its work with children across Jersey,” he said.
Paul Murphy, CEO of Jersey Business, said the Better Business Grant was designed to help local firms invest and grow.
“When companies such as Les Ormes expand, the benefits are felt across the wider economy, from employment and skills to visitor experience and long-term resilience,” he said.
Mike Graham, Managing Director at Les Ormes, added that the grant would help accelerate investment in leisure facilities that benefit both tourism and the local community.
Padel – a fast-growing racket sport combining elements of tennis and squash – has seen increasing popularity worldwide due to its accessibility and social nature.
Bookings for the courts can be made online through the Les Ormes website.
