Do you know the Island's most inspirational woman?

Friday 24 February 2017

This weekend is the last chance to nominate an ‘outstanding’ woman for the 2017 Inspirational Woman of the Year Award.

Jersey Women’s Refuge is looking to award a woman who has made a significant difference to an individual or group, or succeeded against the odds.

The award is given by Jersey Women’s Refuge and sponsored by Barclays.

Once received, the nominations will be reviewed by the judging panel made up of Jamie Orchard, Chair of Jersey Women’s Refuge, Jenny New from Barclays and Melissa Nobrega, last year's winner.

Ms Nobrega, who won the award in 2016, was recognised as an inspirational woman after setting up Caring Cooks of Jersey, a charity dedicated to positively empower and influence the future health of Jersey’s children, now and for future generations to come.

Remarking on how she felt to be awarded Ms Nobrega said: “It was such a huge honour to be awarded Inspirational Woman of the Year in 2016. I hope that in my actions I have managed to demonstrate to women in our Island that we can all make a significant difference to our community and the issues we are passionate about no matter how large the challenge is.”

The award will be presented by Barclays - a sponsor - at the International Women’s Day Breakfast on Wednesday 8 March at The Royal Yacht Hotel.

Award submissions must be received by Monday 27 February. Click here to fill out an online nomination form.
