'Sink-hole' caused by a burst pipe

Tuesday 23 May 2017

It's been confirmed that the 'sink-hole' that appeared at the bottom of Trinity Road on Monday morning was caused by a burst water pipe.

The affected section of Trinity Road will remain closed until Thursday as repairs take place and there will be no access between Rouge Bouillon and Grands Vaux and vice versa

The Infrastructure Department (DfL) says it had no other option but to close the road as the excavation is right in the middle of the lane.

Jersey Water have also dug around the hole and will be fixing the affected pipes, before other utility companies can check the condition of their own infrastructure.

Once the checks have taken place, the DfI will be backfilling the hole before putting the surface back. It is expected that works will take up until at least Wednesday, which means that Trinity Road is likely to reopen on Thursday.

As a result of the road closure, Liberty Bus had to amend three different bus routes. Route 4, 13 and 21 have diverted through St Saviour's Hill until further notice.
