Guernsey’s Chamber of Commerce has voted in a new President, after the previous one left to try his hand at politics.

Public Relations expert Brooke Kenyon has taken on the role, following an election at the organisation’s Annual General Meeting on 6 May.

She replaces Stephen Rouxel, who stood down at the start of March to stand in the by-election, picking up 230 votes.

Ms Kenyon said the Chamber had “incredible momentum – our voice in policy discussions is stronger than ever, and the breadth of what we deliver for businesses across the island continues to expand”.

The Managing Director of award winning PR agency Orchard PR, Ms Kenyon has more than 20 years experience and has been on the Chamber’s Executive Committee for five years.

She said her focus would be on inclusion, making sure “every member feels the real, tangible value of being part of this community”.

“Guernsey is a wonderful place to live and work, and Chamber has a vital role to play in keeping it that way – championing the conditions which make the island a great place to live and work.”

Guernsey-based entrepreneur and business consultant Nicholas Collinson was elected as Vice President.

The Chamber’s Executive Director, Alice Gill, said the pair’s “energy, commitment and passion for Guernsey business” would be “a tremendous asset”.
