A specialist in children’s hearing has joined the Medical Specialist Group.

Amy Vermeulen has joined the group’s paediatric audiology team as an audiologist, “providing specialist care for patients under 18”.

Miss Vermeulen will “assess and treat hearing loss” as well as “supporting children and their families” with advice on protecting hearing.

Dr Farid Fouladinejad, Chief Executive, said Miss Vermeulen was “a fantastic addition to the team”.

She trained at the University of Southampton, before joining Portsmouth NHS Trust’s Complex Adult and Paediatric Audiology team, specialising in treating balance disorders that cause dizziness and vertigo.

Miss Vermeulen said the most fulfilling part of her role was “seeing the positive impact on patients’ lives”.

“Having already fallen in love with Guernsey,” she said she was “excited” to help children with hearing problems here.

Outside of work, Miss Vermeulen’s interests include art, music and astronomy.
