This week’s Guernsey Digital Assets Conference is aiming to get eyes on Guernsey from a litany of jurisdictions, and hopes to show off a “high-end” offering.
The one-day event is designed to explore the world of digital assets, which includes cryptocurrencies, NFTs, and blockchain technology.
The conference aims to unpack the complexities and realities of these technologies and any potential impact on various sectors beyond traditional financial services, such as healthcare, education, and government.
The event will feature a Crypto Investment Game, which has been sponsored by Canaccord Wealth, and attendees will also receive some commemorative NFTs as a gift from the lead sponsor, Artemis Fiduciaries.
The conference is taking place tomorrow at St Pierre Park Hotel, with an attendance of global and local experts in financial services to individuals and professionals outside the industry who want to understand the evolving financial landscape.
The event has also reached out to ‘Technologists of Tomorrow’ by having PwC CI sponsor a table for students and early-career professionals.

Debbie Guillou, CEO of Artemis Fiduciaries, and one of the brains behind the conference says now is the right time for Guernsey to get serious about the developments in the world of Blockchains and Web3.
”Some may think blockchain and cryptocurrencies belong to the future, but the reality is that the future has already arrived,” Ms Guillou said.
“The market capitalisation of global cryptocurrencies reached over USD 4 trillion in mid-2025, while stablecoin transaction volumes in 2024 exceeded USD 27 trillion, surpassing the combined volumes of the Mastercard and Visa payment network.”
Ms Guilou emphasised the conferences the core ambition, and Guernsey’s message to the wider world.
”So the idea is we want to get Guernsey on the map.” She proclaimed, “As far as digital assets are concerned, we want to be really clear that we’re doing this in a good and a safe way.
“We want to just send a message to the island and to the wider audience, that Guernsey is on the map, that we are open for business, but we will do it in the best possible way. We will do it to the highest standards, which is what our reputation is already built upon.”

For those previously caught out by a speculative headline, or have hedged a bet on a new dog-themed coin, this conference is meant to highlight the benefits of the technology, and the stability starting to form around the currencies.
”I’m not talking about the speculative meme coins that are dreamt up in somebody’s bedroom…We are talking about the other end of the spectrum,” said Ms Guillou.
“Bitcoin, which is now globally expected as a store of value, Ethereum, which is not only a store of value, but it has also got a real utility in the world of smart contracts.”
With Guernsey’s premier industry built on the safe and respected nature of the local Finance Sector, Ms Guillou says it is crucial that the Bailiwick gets itself on the correct footing.
”I personally believe it is the future of financial services. And in 10 years time, we’ll look back on 2020, 2025, and say, ‘What were you doing back then?’.”
Ms Guilou stated that the goal is longevity.
“I have a passion for this island… and I really want us to stay relevant, to stay at the forefront, to build on the reputation that has been hard won by so many people on this island, to build this reputation, and I want it to have longevity.”
But for that to be the case, those who do embrace Web3, Cryptotechnology, and the Blockchain, will have to be sure that those with ill intent, aren’t doing business through the island, she said.
“If you come to Guernsey with a bad wallet, it’s got some criminality or some sanctioned activity in there, we will read that and your assets will get frozen.
“Don’t come to Guernsey if you want to do that kind of thing. You know, go elsewhere, but don’t come here. That’s why we need to really pitch our offering at the high end, as we have always done with our financial services.”
