Creasey & Son Limited has made some shifting changes to its company structure, with Peter Creasey moving roles from Managing Director to Chairman.
His brother Tony Creasey, who was the previous Chairman, will stay on as a Director, with a new generation of Creaseys taking on more day to day responsibility in the business.
Jonathan Creasey, already a familiar face to regular customers, has now taken over as Managing Director, with Chartered Accountant Ben Creasey appointed as Company Secretary.
Despite these internal appointments, Jonathan Creasey said this shouldn’t result in many changes for customers and colleagues.
“For the immediate future, nothing really changes, as we have great management teams running both of our businesses. There’s still a great future for the High Street. Town and the High Street are so important for our island community.”
Ben Creasey added: “With the incumbent financial controller retiring, it was the perfect opportunity to fit into a role suited to my experience. I’m excited and honoured to be a part of this next chapter for Creasey’s.”
Peter Creasey will remain involved in two ongoing projects: the expansion of the High Street department store and the redevelopment of the St Martin’s Marks & Spencer Food Hall.
The new areas of the High Street store are expected to open to customers from September, while at St Martin’s a temporary shop will be put up in the car park while the main building is rebuilt.
Peter Creasey said he is keen to see these projects through to completion.
“I grew up in the family business, and I remember my father kept coming to work into his quite late senior years. I realised a few years ago that I was in danger of sleepwalking into doing just that.”
He aded: “We’re in a different position today than when my father and uncle retired, in that we now have a much stronger management team. This is the right time to step back and give others the opportunities I enjoyed.”
