A firm providing tokenisation infrastructure has received two licences from the Guernsey Financial Services Commission (GFSC).

Ctrl Alt already has authorisation in the UK, Dubai and Ireland through which it issues tokenised assets and helps structure, distribute and manage them.

Its newly established Guernsey entity, Ctrl Alt Corporate Services, will add regulated fiduciary and digital transfer agent capabilities to its tokenisation offering.

The new licences mean it can now cover the full operational lifecycle of those assets.

Matt Ong, founder and CEO of Ctrl Alt, said the firm had been “operating in Guernsey for some time now” and was “delighted to be deepening that relationship”.

The firm’s Fiduciary Licence covers corporate administration, directorship and governance services for its vehicles.

Meanwhile, its Protection of Investors (POI) Licence permits Ctrl Alt to act as registrar and digital transfer agent for investment fund and vehicle interests, covering administration, subscription and registration.

Removes friction

By embedding distributed ledger technology (DLT) into the register and administration processes, Ctrl Alt will create digital registers to record ownership, a spokesperson said.

The fiduciary capability applies the same operating model to the structuring, directorship and governance of its vehicles.

Mr One added: “As leaders in tokenisation, we’re proud to bring digital transfer agency and fiduciary services in-house, giving us direct control over how the register of ownership is maintained and how closely it works alongside the token.

“That removes a layer of friction that has slowed alternatives for years.

Mr Ong said Guernsey’s depth “in investment funds and corporate services, along with the GFSC’s constructive engagement with digital finance, made it a natural choice for our fourth authorisation”.

“We look forward to putting these capabilities to work across our tokenisation initiatives in the months ahead,” he added.
