Beachgoers have been urged to “think before you park” after badly positioned cars left a public bus trapped at a local bay and forced other services to abandon the stop.
Haphazard parking near popular north coast beach Bonne Nuit meant bus routes had to be changed at short notice over the weekend, with drivers asked to be “mindful” of ensuring larger vehicles can get through.
LibertyBus director Kevin Hart spoke to Express after one of the company’s inbound Route 4 services found itself stuck at Bonne Nuit Bay on Sunday due to badly parked cars.
This also meant subsequent buses on the route had to skip the coastal stop, before the issue was eventually resolved with the support of the honorary police.
Mr Hart noted that similar issues had been seen elsewhere at other beach including at Grève de Lecq and Bouley Bay.
He said: “We are just asking people to be mindful that there are buses in the area – they do need a lot more room than a car.
“They need to be able to turn and they need to be able to maintain access.”
Mr Hart noted that: “It’s not just buses – you’ve got emergency services as well, so just think before you park.
“And if you can’t park, then catch the bus.”
