The G8 will host an online event this Friday, marking the launch of Guernsey’s new Adult Skills Strategy and the establishment of the Adult Skills Board.
The group’s pre-election Voice of Guernsey Business Survey highlighted concerns around skills gaps, with the Guernsey Institute Adult Skills Strategy intended to directly respond.
Friday’s session will explore Guernsey’s current and future skills needs, why adult learning is critical to economic resilience, and how the new framework will support employers, individuals and the wider island economy.
A panel discussion will bring together representatives from government, business and education to discuss skills gaps, workforce challenges, and how a more coordinated, long-term approach to skills development can help Guernsey adapt and thrive.
The panellists will include Economic Development President Deputy Sasha Kazantseva-Miller, Education, Sport, and Culture President Deputy Paul Montague, and Dr Louise Misselke from the Guernsey Institute.
The session will be hosted and moderated by Glen Tonks, Chair of the IoD Guernsey Branch.
This event will be of interest to anyone involved in Guernsey’s business and charity community and is open to all G8 member associations.
