The Saffery Rotary Walk will keep its name until at least 2029, after its headline sponsor agreed to continue its support.

Saffery Trust has sponsored the walk for 10 years and will continue one of the longest-running Guernsey partnerships for at least another three years.

Lisa Vizia, Director at Saffery Trust, said that their sponsorship of the walk – which has been running for nearly 30 years – was “one of the things we are proudest of as a business.”

Saffery Trust funds the walk, including covering the event’s staging costs – meaning every penny raised by walkers will be received by the charities they raise it for.

‘Lace up their boots’

Ms Vizia said Saffery’s sponsorship gave organisers “the certainty they need to keep growing the event”.

“It means islanders can lace up their boots each year knowing that every penny they raise will reach the causes that need it,” she added.

This year’s event raised money for 16 local charities, making it one of the largest fundraising event on the island.

The walk also announced the date for next year’s round-island event: Saturday 12 June 2027.

Simon Milsted, Chair of the organising committee, said: “On behalf of us all, I want to thank Saffery Trust for their generosity and their belief in what we do.”

He said planning had already started for next year’s event, which would be “the biggest and best yet”.

Registration will open in December.
