Independent mental health charity, Guernsey Mind, has appointed Stephen Hare as the new Chair of its Board.

The charity’s aim is to support the people of the Bailiwick, encouraging a positive attitude towards mental health and supporting mental wellbeing.

Recently, the mental health charity entered into a partnership with Health and Social Care to continue delivering their Supported Self Service programme.

Jo Cottell, Chief Executive of Guernsey Mind, commented: “With our partnership with HSC and Stephen’s appointment, we anticipate a year of growth and development at Guernsey Mind. Our aim is to enhance all areas of our service, from one-to-one support to training, awareness, and the various events we hold throughout the year.”

Mr Hare, initially became involved with Guernsey Mind through attending their Mental Health training.

“I first connected with Guernsey Mind through the Mental Health First Aider training the charity delivers locally,” explained Mr Hare.

“Last year, I joined as a Non-Executive Director, and I am thrilled to now step into the role of Chair. The mental health and wellbeing of our community is vitally important, and Guernsey Mind plays a pivotal role, expanding access to essential services, advocating for greater awareness and supporting initiatives that make a real difference in people’s lives. Guernsey Mind is an amazing charity and I’m looking forward to supporting Jo and the whole team.”
