Guernsey Cricket has appointed Richard Headington as its new Chief Operating Officer.
An experienced leader in both business and sport, he will take responsibility for the operational management of Guernsey Cricket, overseeing domestic and representative cricket, driving strategic growth, and strengthening the sport’s commercial and community engagement.
This appointment is part of a leadership transition within Guernsey Cricket, with Carl Brooks stepping away from his position as Chief Executive Officer.
Brooks will continue to play a key role in the organisation, taking on the new position of Administrator for Domestic Cricket, where he will focus on overseeing the local game.
Headington has been involved in the game for over 50 years, including captaining the Guernsey men’s team.
In addition to his cricketing background, Headington brings experience in governance, strategic planning, and commercial development.
Headington said: “I am honoured to step into the role of Chief Operating Officer at Guernsey Cricket. Cricket has been a defining part of my life, and I am committed to helping the sport grow and thrive in Guernsey. My focus will be on strengthening the domestic game, supporting our representative sides, and building strong relationships with stakeholders, sponsors, and the wider community.”
Guernsey Cricket Chairman, Carl Johnson, welcomed the appointment, saying: “We are delighted to have Richard Headington join us as COO. His leadership skills, strategic insight, and passion for cricket make him the ideal person to drive Guernsey Cricket forward.
“We would also like to thank Carl Brooks for his dedication as Chief Executive and are pleased that he will continue to play an important role in the organisation. With this leadership structure in place, we are well-positioned to build on recent progress and take Guernsey Cricket to new heights.”
Headington has already begun work in his new role, focusing on areas such as increasing participation, developing talent pathways in collaboration with Director of Cricket Jeremy Frith and Player Development Manager and Pathway Lead Ben Ferbrache, and securing new sponsorship opportunities for Guernsey Cricket’s competitions, including the Men’s Evening League.
