Employment and Equal Opportunities Service

A former States Works Operations Manager has been appointed Director of the Employment and Equal Opportunities Service.

Ian Gavet has been named in a States resolution as his appointment needs to be ratified by Deputies before he can take up the role officially.

That will happen at a future States meeting.

His appointment will be for a period of five years, with effect from 1 March 2025 until 28 February 2030.

As Director of the EEOS, Mr Gavet will oversee work supporting employers, employees, and trade unions to understand local employment and discrimination legislation.

The EEOS was launched after the States agreed to introduce anti-discrimination laws which are being phased in. Stephen Glencross was the first Director of the EEOS.
