The Office of the Data Protection Authority has introduced a new resource to simplify the management of Data Subject Access Requests, for local organisations and Data Protection Officers.
The ODPA has created the ‘DSAR Manager’, which it says is a practical spreadsheet tool housed within a newly established ‘DPO Zone’ on the authority’s website, HERE.
The tool is designed to help controllers and DPOs maintain accurate and structured records throughout the entire DSAR process.
According to the ODPA, using the DSAR Manager will provide several operational advantages, including allowing organisations to build a clear record of decisions and actions taken, which is essential for evidencing compliance.
The ODPA said the tool can help ensure no steps are missed and supports more effective communication with data subjects.
The authority encourages controllers to document the specific factors influencing their decisions at every stage of a request. It suggests that the DSAR Manager is most effective when paired with a structured filing system and consistent naming conventions for all related correspondence.
The DPO Zone also contains a variety of guidance and tools specifically tailored for privacy professionals and DPOs working within the Bailiwick.
