PwC Channel Islands has appointed two new Partners in a wave of 44 promotions.
Erick Dengura from PwC’s Guernsey office and Lelani Wright in Jersey have been admitted as Partners in the firm’s Audit Team.
Nick Vermuelen, PwC CI Senior Partner, said the latest round of promotions, recognised “the contribution and expertise” of everyone involved.
“Our focus continues to be on ensuring our clients can outthink, outpace and outperform in their respective industries, and bringing together technology and human-led expertise effectively is key in enabling us to deliver on that,” he added.
Mr Dengura studied at the University of Zimbabwe and qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 2012 before relocating to join PwC in Guernsey a year later. He has experience across the finance sector in banking, asset and wealth management, and insurance.
Mrs Wright joined PwC in 2012, originally in South Africa – where she attended Nelson Mandela University in Port Elizabeth – and joined the Jersey office in 2013.
She has managed clients from around the world, gaining wide knowledge of financial services.
Also among the 44 promotions in the Channel Islands are 4 new directors. In Jersey, Gemma Sutton and Sarah Hassell were promoted to Assurance Director, and Aoife Furey to Tax Director.
In Guernsey, Ben Backhouse was promoted to a global Director position with a remit to encourage global adoption of audit technology.
The Jersey office also welcomed Dr Christie Viljoen as the Channel Islands’ Lead Economist.
He advises clients on the impacts of economic data and geopolitical trends, leads the economic and social impact assessment practice, and contributes research and analysis to PwC’s thought leadership programme.
He comes off the back of 8 years in a similar role in PwC’s South Africa office.
15 new Senior Managers and 22 managers have also been promoted.
Mr Vermuelen said he was particularly “excited about the part both Lelani and Erick will play in leading and shaping PwC’s strategic direction in the Channel Islands”.
He added: “Both newly admitted Partners bring their unique skills, experience and innovative ideas to the partnership team.
“I’m confident that their respective passions, skills and abilities will strengthen not only our partnership culture but also our investment in the future of our Channel Islands practice.”
