Ahead of next month’s debate on Tax Reform, retailers are invited to a workshop so they can learn more about the potential introduction of a consumption tax in Guernsey if it is approved.

The States are expected to vote on Tax Reform proposals – including a 3% goods and services tax – during a meeting due to start on 15 July.

If the new tax system is approved by deputies, it will come into force – with a Goods and Services Tax included – from 2028.

To help retailers prepare for the potential introduction of the new goods and services tax, a dedicated workshop is being held on 1 July at Les Cotils from 14:00.

The session has been arranged so the States’ tax team can engage directly with retailers on the implications of GST.

It will cover key areas including business compliance requirements, customs processes, IT systems, and customer communications.

The workshop will also provide an opportunity for retailers to raise questions and ensure that our sector-specific concerns are understood as part of the consultation.

Retailers can book their place to attend the workshop by emailing hello@guernseyretailgroup.gg.
