The Supersavvysavers have been checking the price of essential food items in our major supermarkets again, and they’ve found Morrisons offers the best value for your purse this month.
Using a list of staple foodstuffs to ensure they buy the same items at each shop the price checkers visited five local supermarkets.
With goods such as bread, eggs, tea bags, baked beans, and pasta being purchased, the total price at Alliance, Marks and Spencer, Waitrose, Co-op, and Morrisons are compared.
Across the 24 staple items on their list, Morrisons came out the cheapest at £31.56, with Alliance the most expensive at £38.95.
The full set of prices and previous lists are available on the Supersavvysavers website HERE and through the team’s social media accounts.

The last time the supermarket price comparison was carried out, Morrisons was the second cheapest after M&S.
On this occasion, M&S has dropped to the second most expensive of the five stores surveyed.
Morrisons was previously the cheapest of the five supermarkets in March too.
Morrisons took over all of the Iceland and Checkers shops in Guernsey and Jersey at the end of last year after buying 36 Sandpiper stores across the Channel Islands.
It offers member prices through its ‘More’ card scheme along with offering customers the ability to collect points, although those currently can’t be redeemed here.
The latest price comparison includes member prices for the Co-op shopping basket as it has introduced a range of savings for people with a dividend number against the regular price for non-members.
Other prices across all of the stores visited include a range of own brand and saver ranges as well as named brands. The volunteers who do the price check say they always look for the cheapest available in the comparable size.
