BDO Jersey has announced that applications for a bursary scheme that was launched in memory of a colleague have opened for 2026.

The Chris Stuart Bursary is an annual initiative that provides financial assistance to students pursuing undergraduate studies. The selected student receives £15,000 over three years, which includes paid placements and mentoring at BDO Jersey.

The bursary scheme was established in 2024 to honour the legacy of Chris Stuart, former Head of Audit, who passed away in September 2023 following a short illness.

The scheme aims to support local students through financial aid and professional development opportunities, while commemorating Mr Stuart’s dedication to mentoring young talent and commitment to growth and development.

“Chris was a respected leader, inspiring mentor, and advocate for the accountancy profession,” the firm said when the scheme was first launched. “The establishment of The Chris Stuart Bursary will ensure his legacy lives on, inspiring future generations of accountants.”

The inaugural Chris Stuart Bursary was awarded to Arthur Tobin, a Hautlieu School alumnus with “outstanding A-Level results and diverse work experience”.

“We are honoured to continue Chris Stuart’s legacy through this bursary,” said Alison Dryland, Group People Director of BDO Jersey.

“Chris was deeply committed to nurturing the next generation of talent and this bursary is a testament to his values. We are excited to once again offer this opportunity to students who share his passion for growth and development.”
