The 2025 Skipton Swimarathon has raised more than £62,000 with the money still being counted.
More than 1,700 swimmers, volunteers, and supporters took part in this year’s event helping to raise money for the St John Guernsey LBG and its community services.
Heather Langlois, Chief Executive Officer, St John Guernsey LBG, thanked them all.
“Thank you to every swimmer, volunteer and donor. Your support directly funds our community first aid education, youth programmes and volunteer training, which sit outside the frontline ambulance service and are largely reliant on donations. The generosity shown this week will help us keep saving local lives.”
The 2024 Skipton Swimarathon raised more than £65,000 and the organising committee thinks this year’s total could beat that when all of the individual and corporate donations have been paid in.

Charlotte Dunsterville, Chief Commercial Officer at Skipton International, said some teams and supporters still need to complete their pledges to help them match or beat last year’s figure.
“Guernsey turned out again in force once again,” she said. “We’ve already raised an incredible £62,000 and with corporate gifts and team pledges still to come, that total will climb even higher. Whether you swam, sponsored, or volunteered, thank you for helping make this year’s event truly memorable.”
This year’s was the 49th annual swimarathon, combining fun, fitness, and charitable giving.
Swimmers took part between 8 and 12 October at Beau Sejour, with some of the swimming also taking place at St Sampson’s High School.
John Stuart, Chairman of the Skipton Swimarathon Organising Committee, thanked everyone who took part by swimming or helping to organise it including those from the Guernsey Round Table, the Lions Club of Guernsey, and Skipton International.

“It was fantastic to see so many people enjoying themselves once again in this unique event,” he said.
“One of the highlights was seeing octogenarian and retired physician Roger Allsopp swimming with the Guernsey Masters Swim team on Saturday evening and completing 34 laps which is 1,700 metres.”
2026 will mark the 50th Skipton Swimarathon, and Mr Stuart said the committee is aiming to make it the biggest yet by attracting even more teams to experience this much-loved event.
