The States of Guernsey-owned regional airline Aurigny has revealed a “transformative” uptick in the number of people flying from Guernsey to Jersey.
It was announced that 5,574 passengers booked with Aurigny for the inter-island journey in February 2026, a 32% increase from the 4,235 carried in the same month last year.
The figures signal the route’s best performance in three years and could point to the airline’s ongoing commitment throughout its tenure to reduce fares.
Prior to Aurigny taking over, fares for a return flight were approaching £200 – whereas now the same flight can be purchased for just under £100.
The price change has been identified as a crucial factor for why more people are flying from Guernsey to Jersey, alongside a growth in leisure-related travel and tactical marketing promotions.
Recent initiatives offered by the airline include a £59 return day trip for weekend travel and a “Kids Fly Free” half-term offer.
Philip Saunders, Chief Commercial Officer at Aurigny, said: “An increase of 32% in passenger numbers is a powerful endorsement of our approach to grow the market between Guernsey and Jersey.
We very much look forward to working together with all our partners across the Bailiwicks to build on this momentum for the social and economic wellbeing for all Channel islanders.”
Visit Guernsey marketing officer Zoe Gosling added: “We welcome the news of an increase in passengers on Aurigny’s Jersey route.
“It is encouraging to see the uptake on this inter-island service, making it easier and more cost-effective for islanders and visitors to travel between the Islands.
“Like all the inter-island travel options now available, this service supports marketing efforts into Jersey which, in turn, boost the Guernsey visitor economy, and also makes two centre breaks easier for those wishing to explore all of the Channel Islands.
“More than that it connects our island communities and strengthens our relationships, with the aim of seeing a return to the levels of inter-island travel previously experienced.”
