A Carey Olsen partner has been appointed as a Commissioner of the Jersey Financial Services Commission.
Made up of finance industry practitioners, consumers and public representatives, the JFSC Board of Commissioners is responsible for setting the organisation’s strategic objectives, overseeing its financial performance and exercising statutory and regulatory powers.
Robert Milner is “one of Jersey’s leading funds lawyers” and a longstanding contributor to Jersey’s financial services industry, according to his employer.
He has played a “significant role” in shaping local law and regulation through his work with the Jersey Funds Association and a number of industry working groups over the last decade, they said.
At Carey Olsen, Mr Milner acts for boutique and institutional fund managers and has extensive experience in establishing all types of Jersey funds.
He also has particular expertise in establishing fund manager vehicles and structures, Jersey Property Unit Trusts (JPUTs) and Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs).
Mr Milner was appointed to the JFSC alongside Lynn Cleary, former managing director of RBS International and current non-executive director of Foresight Group and Ports of Jersey.
Mr Milner said: “Having spent many years working with the JFSC in a professional capacity at Carey Olsen, it is a privilege to join the organisation as a Commissioner.
“I’m looking forward to contributing to the JFSC’s work in a way that supports the continued development of Jersey’s financial services sector.”
