Imperium has appointed a new managing director for its Jersey business amid an “exciting” time for the firm as it celebrates five years in the island.

The role is being taken on by James Wileman, who brings extensive leadership and operational experience spanning both the public and private sectors – including expertise in governance, risk, compliance, business transformation and operational strategy.

Mr Wileman’s background includes 18 years in senior roles within Jersey’s public sector, prior to moving into the island’s fiduciary sector where he held senior positions across operations, risk and compliance before joining Imperium.

He will now lead the firm’s Jersey business, where he has previously served as chief operating officer.

Alongside celebrating five years in Jersey in 2026, Imperium Group is also marking its 15th anniversary.

Chief executive David Gilmour said: “James has already made a significant contribution to our Jersey business and I am delighted that he will now take on the role of managing director.”

He continued: “Over the past five years, we have built a strong business in Jersey and it has become an increasingly important part of the wider Imperium Group.

“As we also celebrate 15 years of Imperium this year, James’s appointment comes at an exciting time for the business and reflects our confidence in the opportunities ahead.”

Mr Gilmour said that Mr Wileman “brings a strong combination of leadership, operational expertise and an excellent understanding of Jersey’s financial services industry”, adding that he was “confident that James is the right person to lead our Jersey team into its next chapter”.

Mr Wileman said he was “delighted” to take on his new role “and to have the opportunity to lead such a talented and committed team”.

He continued: “Having recently celebrated five years in Jersey, there is a real sense of momentum within the business.

“We have a strong platform from which to grow and I am looking forward to working with the team to build on what we have achieved so far.”
