The event, which is supported by all banks on the island and sponsored by PwC and Pinel Advocates, aims to provide insights into key issues effecting the international banking sector, threats and opportunities, fintech developments, a regulatory overview, and a leadership forum.
Conference Chairman, James Mews, of Pinel Advocates stated, “During the ten years I worked in government, I was always amazed that there was no forum to address the key issues around banking and financial services. It is a pleasure to be able to launch the first annual forum for the good of the island and to examine such vital matters. The range of speakers is absolutely first class, from Baron Nicholas Macpherson to Roger Black, and Pinel Advocates is delighted to sponsor this event and to contribute to thought leadership in respect of these key issues here in Jersey.”
PwC CI Director and Banking Leader, James de Veulle, added: “We’re especially pleased to support this inaugural event and to play a part in bringing together such a high calibre mix of keynote speakers. The issues raised and insights provided by such a range of prominent speakers from the cutting edge of international banking and wealth services should prompt a fascinating debate about the future direction of global banking and investment and also help identify the role that a world-class jurisdiction such as Jersey will play in that future.”
Opening at 08:15, the conference will include a keynote speech from the newly elected Chief Minister, Senator John le Fondré.
Several talks and leadership forums will follow until 17:30 when all delegates will be able to gather for drinks and a bit of networking.
Organised by the International Banking Forum, an independent policy institute, the event will become an annual fixture.
