Castle Cornet was illuminated in Bitcoin’s signature orange to mark the opening of the inaugural Guernsey Bitcoin Summit, which takes place within the Castle grounds.

The illumination drew attention across the island and signalled the start of the invitation‑only event, which will bring together international speakers, industry leaders and advisers for a series of discussions on Bitcoin’s evolving role within the global financial stack, regulatory frameworks and institutional adoption.

Proceedings will begin in fitting fashion with the traditional noon‑day gunfire, setting the tone for a programme designed to balance innovation with perspective in a historic setting.

Chris Hutley‑Hurst, partner at Walkers and a panellist at the summit, said: “Guernsey has a long track record as a well‑regulated and internationally respected financial centre. The summit provides a timely forum for exploring how Bitcoin and other digital assets fit within that framework, and for bringing together different perspectives on the regulatory and institutional considerations involved, with a view to making Guernsey a leading digital asset jurisdiction.”

The Guernsey Bitcoin Summit has been organised by a local entrepreneur and is supported by private sponsors including Walkers, CThru, Boom and Hex Labs. The organisers have indicated that there are ambitions to build on this first event in future years.
