Although her appointment was made with immediate effect, she will initially remain in the UK and work remotely due to the covid-19 travel restrictions in place and then relocate to the island as soon as practical.

“I am delighted that we have been able to secure someone with the standing and expertise that Janine will bring to the Institute,” Stephen Baker, Chairman of the Board of Governors, said.

“She will help us further develop and grow the Institute and we are confident the Institute will go from strength to strength under her leadership.”

He also thanked Professor Griffiths-Baker’s predecessor, Dr David Marrani, for his “substantial contribution to the Institute”, wishing him well in his future career.
