Ferry bookings to and from Jersey for the peak summer months are running 25% ahead of the same point last year, DFDS has said.
The figures cover bookings for travel between June and September and come as DFDS says more UK visitors are looking for closer-to-home seaside breaks.
The operator also reported this morning that it had observed a 20% year-on-year rise in passenger numbers during May.
Google searches in the UK for “Jersey holiday” have increased by 21% over the past year, according to analysis commissioned by the company.
Chris Parker, DFDS Route Director for Jersey, said the growth reflected increasing interest in the Island as a holiday destination.
“Demand for travel to the Island continues to grow, with passenger bookings running significantly ahead of last year,” he said.
“Visitors are increasingly looking for destinations that combine outstanding beaches, great food, outdoor activities and easy accessibility, and Jersey offers all of those in abundance.”
The company has not released the total number of passengers represented by the percentage increases.
