Finance may be Jersey’s biggest industry, but that doesn’t mean everyone is an expert.

Express has collaborated with sister company Jersey Evening Post to launch a new podcast that aims to improve financial literacy.

Money Talks is a six-episode series covering a range of topics relating to finance.

Guests from local firms joined host Meg Winton to dissect, explain and discuss everything from pension planning and personal cyber security to ethical investing and financial wellbeing.

The series officially launched last week, with Matt Falla and Ian Leverington of Evelyn Partners International as its first guests.

All episodes are available to listen to now, and a written version of each episode will be published in The Business section of the JEP every Wednesday from 21 May to 25 June.

Here’s what you can expect…

  1. Investment for Beginners, with Evelyn Partners International
  1. Managing your Money, with Reto Finance
  1. Mental Health and Financial Wellbeing, with Evelyn Partners International

Managing Partner Matt Falla said he was “delighted” that Evelyn Partners International had contributed to the Money Talk series.

“Amidst the noise of geo-political events and the emotional roller coaster of the stock market, it’s good to be able to step back and return to the fundamentals of why we invest, what investors should be aware of and just what power good advice has.”

Meg Winton, host of the Money Talks podcast, said that hearing from the guests was a “learning experience” for her.

“We really covered the topics we all wish were taught in school, like budgeting, investing, lending and general best practice tips and advice.

“It was fantastic to hear from local professionals who really knew their stuff and were able to discuss complex topics in a digestible, accessible way,” she added.

“I hope anyone who listens to the podcast not only enjoys it, but feels they’ve learnt something valuable.”
