Some of the world’s best athletes will swim, cycle, and run around Jersey this year as the Super League Triathlon returns to the island in September.

It has been confirmed that the world series event will take place on Sunday 21 September.

Jersey was the first venue to host a full Supertri event in 2017 as part of a £1.25m five-year deal between Super League and Jersey’s government

Further events took place in the island in 2018, 2019 and 2021.

The island will this year become the first destination to host five Super League Triathlon events after the Government of Jersey agreed a one-year contract with Supertri to host the 2025 event.

Supertri co-founder and CEO Michael D’Hulst said: “Jersey has always been one of the most iconic stops on the Supertri League calendar, and a place we have always considered to be our spiritual home.

“The racing is world class, the backdrop is stunning and the community is truly invested.

“It really is a very special place, not only for Supertri but for triathlon in general, where people recognise the effort you put in and repay that with incredible support.

“We’re thrilled to return in 2025 and to continue working in partnership with the Government of Jersey to promote healthier, more active lifestyles while showcasing the Island on a global stage.”

Economic Development Minister Kirsten Morel added: “Supertri was a great success when it previously came to the Island and we’re excited to have Jersey hosting the event again in 2025.

“The 2019 edition in particular brought considerable additional income to Jersey’s visitor economy, and in 2021 the hospitality sector benefitted from approximately 400 extra bed nights through inbound athletes, staff, and support personnel.

“We expect similar positive returns on local investment in 2025.”

In 2021, Supertri said that $356,000 was spent with local suppliers in the delivery of the race – with the event also broadcast in more than 145 countries.

Jersey joins Toronto, Toulouse and Chicago as one of the races announced for the 2025 Supertri League so far.

Details of participating athletes, community engagement activities and the full race weekend programme will be announced in the coming months.
