The Atlantic Hotel has “raised a glass” to its Head Sommelier after he was recognised in an industry ranking.
Alexandru Dan has been ranked 35th in The Sommelier Edit’s Top 100 Sommeliers 2025 – a rise from his position at 40th place last year.
Compiled by an expert panel of hospitality professionals, The Sommelier Edit Top 100 recognises individuals who are making a significant impact on the wine and hospitality industry in the UK.
The 2025 edition highlights sommeliers whose expertise, dedication and thoughtful service “shape exceptional guest experiences”.
Since joining The Atlantic Hotel, Mr Dan has been “instrumental” in developing and maintaining the wine programme at Ocean Restaurant, which has been recognised with the AA Notable Wine List Award.
The hotel said his carefully curated selections and considered pairings provide a “seamless complement” to Executive Chef Will Holland’s seasonal menus.
