The head sommelier of a top Jersey hotel has been named in the prestigious Harpers Top 50 Sommeliers list.
The Atlantic Hotel’s Alexandru Dan said it was an “honour” to receive the number 48 ranking.
The annual listing aims to celebrate the best sommeliers in the hospitality sector, recognising individuals who excel in wine service, education, and innovation.
Judges make note of communication, leadership, and vision, alongside the nominee’s ability to inspire and shape the wine and spirit industry.
With over 20 years of experience, Alexandru has been praised for his knowledge, expertise, and influence in his role at The Atlantic Hotel.
Under his stewardship, the hotel has been awarded two California Wine Stars from the California Wine Institute.
Hotel owner and managing director Patrick Burke said: “We are absolutely delighted that Alexandru has been recognised in Harpers Top 50 Sommeliers 2025.
“His deep knowledge, infectious passion, and unwavering dedication to his craft shine through in everything he does.
“This recognition is richly deserved, and we are proud to see him celebrated among the very best in the UK.”
Alexandru Dan added: “It is an honour to be recognised among Harpers Top 50 Sommeliers 2025.
“I would like to thank Champagne Laurent-Perrier for their generous support in making this celebration possible.
