The Jersey Chamber of Commerce has announced that Lee Madden will serve as its President for the next three years.
Mr Madden, who had been Chamber’s Co-Vice President with Daphne East, is the CEO of GR8 Recruitment.
He takes over from Adam Budworth, who said: “It has been an honour to have served in this role, especially as Chamber is in such good health with positive engagement with our members, the community and government.
“These past twelve months have been particularly busy and I am delighted that we are able to announce that Chamber will be moving back to the building where it all began in 1768.”
Mr Budworth relinquished the role at the Chamber annual general meeting, which followed a lunch featuring the Chief Ministers of Jersey and Guernsey.
During the lunch, it was announced that 19 Royal Square – where the first meeting of the Jersey Chamber of Commerce took place in 1768 – had been bought, bringing Chamber back to the Royal Square.
The outgoing President praised Chamber CEO Murray Norton for his work in delivering the property purchase for the future of Chamber.
Mr Norton said: “Adam and Daphne have been a huge support to the team at Chamber, helping us move forward as Jersey’s largest and most comprehensive representative body for business in Jersey.
“We are very excited that Lee has taken on the role and will be ably supported by former President, Eliot Lincoln, who will be Vice-President for the next twelve months, in an historic week where we have returned to our spiritual home in the Royal Square.”
He added: “I am humbled to be following in the footsteps of previous Presidents to lead our members for the next three years.
“As we heard from the Chief Ministers of Jersey and Guernsey, working together is what makes us stronger, and collaboration is vital if we are to meet the challenges of global and local events.
“We will forge stronger links with our fellow islanders in Guernsey and the Isle of Man so that we can present a united voice when working with the UK and other countries.
“More importantly, we should be working together to enable our business communities to thrive.”
