A new flexible workspace aimed at entrepreneurs, freelancers and small business owners is set to open in a hidden courtyard at Charing Cross.

House of Champions will offer hot desking, permanent desks, meeting rooms and a dedicated podcast studio, alongside a programme of community-focused events.

The three-storey site in St Andrew’s Place, which can accommodate around 40 members, is designed to provide both workspace and networking opportunities for Jersey’s growing independent workforce.

The concept has been developed by Fiona Wylie, founder and chief executive of marketing agency Brand Champions.

She explained that the concept for House of Champions was shaped by her own experience of building a business while raising a family after relocating to Jersey.

“Too often we ask people, particularly women, to adapt to systems that were never designed for them,” she said. “This space is about flipping that narrative.”

Ms Wylie pointed to figures from the Association of Independent Professionals and the Self-Employed, which showed a 69% rise in the number of highly skilled female freelancers since 2008.

“House of Champions has been created to support this expanding and ambitious network of people who are building careers on their own terms,” she said.

“We are investing in people first and providing an environment where ideas can grow, teams can form, connections can turn into collaborations and co-workers can become friends.

“House of Champions is community-driven and flexible by design, because real ambition doesn’t thrive in isolation. It thrives when people feel supported, inspired and genuinely connected.”

The initiative will also partner with Mentorhood, a charity supporting individuals returning to the workforce after having children.
